I just got my first rejection letter in the mail for a short story I had submitted. I guess that’s something.
Lack of courtesy on the net March 28, 2009

Recently on a site that I frequent, there has been a long and rather heated discussion between two camps regarding the movie Watchmen. David Hayter, the writer of the original draft of the script, dropped by with an open letter, requesting that folks who enjoyed the movie should go see it again on it’s second weekend. Well, that brough all kinds of responses, from “Good movie, will go see it again” to “David Hayter should die.”
I couldn’t believe the attacks back and forth, not only at Hayter, but at anyone who chose one viewpoint or the other. It seemed that anyone who was for the movie, was hated by those who were against it and vice-versa. What really amazed me were the personal attacks on individuals. It’s one thing to hate a movie, or like it, it’s another thing to think that a writer is an idiot for the film having been made. But that is what was happening in the thread.
It really does show that the anonymity of user names and typing opinions has lowered the level of courtesy towards each other and it is starting to spill over into the “real world” every day. I don’t know when it started happening, but internal censorship has become a thing of the past and I don’t like the direction we’re headed because of it.

I’ve been away due to some serious computer woes. My computer decided it didn’t like me anymore and stopped working.
So I finally joined the 21st century and bought a nice, new laptop. I had decided my next computer would be a laptop since I don’t do any real gaming on my PC since I picked up a 360.
I really like the laptop, except for the nearly constant typos I make because the keyboard has a funny layout to it and my fingers are still learning that \ is now where always used to be and CAP LOCK is where shift was, stuff like that. Oh, I’ll get used to it in time and be back to my old self.
