Only 59% of us Canadians turned out at the polls to vote yesterday. That’s the lowest voter turnout in Canadian national history. I was just listening to the radio and they gave a list of excuses for not voting.
The best one was “what’s the point of voting, nothing ever changes.”
That’s without a doubt the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard. Of course nothing is going to change if you don’t put some effort into making change. That’s why we have the right to vote in the first place. Another fellow said he didn’t vote because he just never got around to it. I’ll accept that. Laziness beats apathy any day in my books.
One more thing, if you didn’t vote, you don’t get to complain about who’s in charge.
