Seeing as how it’s New Years Eve and all, I thought I’d put together a list of movies where the future, or the present, kinda sucks.  Be it dystopian, apocalyptic or just a really unhappy place to be, here is the ten best of the world you probably don’t want to live in on film (in no particular order):
  • Blade Runner
  • Brazil
  • Escape From New York
  • A Boy and His Dog
  • The Quiet Earth
  • Damnation Alley
  • Mad Max
  • Soylent Green
  • Twelve Monkeys
  • Le Dernier Combat
Honourable Mentions (If I decided to make it a Top Ten plus):
  • Rollerball (1975)
  • The Omega Man
  • Logan’s Run
  • Silent Running
  • A Clockwork Orange
  • THX-1138
  • Planet of the Apes (1968)
Happy New Year everybody!

South Korean scientists have created cloned cats that glow in the dark (okay, under ultraviolet light anyway) with the hope that it will one day aid in the treatment of human genetic diseases.

This could be a whole new trend in pet buying.  Get your cats and dogs to glow in just the right colour of green to match your wallpaper!

So, W00t has been crowned word of the year by Websters.  I think I’m going to crawl back into my cave, pull the door shut, double-bar it and hibernate until we all start to come to our senses again.
